The most important mining products are molybdenum ore (the deposits in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains contain over 80% of the molybdenum ore reserves of the western world), crude oil and natural gas (in the northwest of the state), uranium ore (in the southwest near Naturita), coal, silver, zinc, Vanadium, lead ore and gold. The Pueblo metallurgical industry is several decades old.
