Economy
The most important mining products are molybdenum ore (the deposits in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains contain over 80% of the molybdenum ore reserves of the western world), crude oil and natural gas (in the northwest of the state), uranium ore (in the southwest near Naturita), coal, silver, zinc, Vanadium, lead ore and gold. The Pueblo metallurgical industry is several decades old. During the Second World War, the production of weapons (e.g. missiles) and other military equipment began in Colorado; Recently, high-tech industries have settled in the Colorado Front Range in the vicinity of the university cities of Boulder, Denver and Colorado Springs, e. B. for military and aerospace equipment, communications and computer industries. The food industry is based on rich agricultural production (grain, fruit, Sugar beet) of the irrigated land at the foot of the Rocky Mountains (Colorado Piedmont) and along the rivers. The rearing of cattle, sheep and pigs requires considerable meat processing.
Tourism: Tourism is also of economic importance. Colorado is home to Rocky Mountain National Park and Mesa Verde National Park; especially in the Denver, Colorado Springs and Aspen area there are winter sports opportunities.
