Moral Psychology
Moral psychology is about the individual’s understanding of moral principles and how they are followed up in action. Psychology has been particularly interested in how children’s moral assessments develop during the socialization process and in relation to cognitive and personality development.
Particularly well known are discussions of stages in moral development (Jean Piaget, Lawrence Kohlberg), and possible differences between men’s and women’s understanding of morality (Carol Gilligan).
