Psychologism
Psychology is the view that psychology is the basic science of philosophy, and that therefore logic, ethics and cognition theory must build on it. The view was widespread in German and British thinking from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s.
The first major attack on psychology as a philosophical position was given by Gottlob Frege in Die Grundlagen der Arithmetik (1884). Frege also influenced Edmund Husserl, who was originally a psychologist, to change his stance, and Husserl eventually became a significant and influential critic of psychology. Most philosophers today regard psychology as an unsustainable philosophical position.
