Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis is a method of treatment, theoretical learning and an internationally organized movement founded by Sigmund Freud.
The psychoanalytic movement
The International Psychoanalytic Association (IPV) was founded by Sigmund Freud and Carl Gustav Jung in 1910. Gradually, this association has gained local groups in many countries, including the Scandinavians. The members of the IPV must fulfill specific education requirements. Among other things, the candidate himself must submit to psychoanalytic treatment (learning analysis).
Psychiatrists and clinical psychologists can study in Norway for psychoanalysts (Norwegian Institute of Psychoanalytics). The program consists of a four-year theoretical education in the evening as well as a written theoretical work. In addition, the candidates must complete and receive two analyzes under supervision. It is also required that the candidates have gone into self-paid psychoanalysis, and that this is completed in mutual understanding with the analyst.
Psychoanalysis has had a major impact on psychotherapy and the view of nervous disorders. It has also had a great influence on the view of children’s education, pedagogy, literature and the discussion of morality, religion and art.
