Applied Psychology

Applied psychology means the practical use of psychological methods and knowledge to solve specific tasks in social life. While basic research is concerned with knowledge development (which concepts are most comprehensive, which theory is the correct one), in applied psychology the results count (how should we select the best leaders, how do we help people quit smoking).

Important areas of applied psychology are work and organizational psychology, health psychology and social psychology. Other examples are forensic psychology, military psychology, sports psychology and economic psychology. Clinical psychology and educational psychology are also about the application of psychological expertise, but these areas are so extensive and well-established that they are often mentioned separately than as parts of applied psychology.

Northern Louisiana

Louisiana’s north is often referred to as Sportsman’s Paradise, and not without reason: because the diverse landscape with its picturesque mountains is suitable for almost all sports. Of course you can also experience the real big city feeling in North Louisiana such as B. in Bossier City or Monroe. In addition to numerous sights and attractions, in the north you can also enjoy the long musical tradition, with the focus mainly on blues, gospel and country. A successful combination of nature, history, music and an exciting nightlife guarantees an unforgettable stay.

Bossier City

Bossier City is located in northwest Louisiana on the Red River that separates it from the neighboring city of Shreveport. Bossier City was probably founded in the 1830’s under the name “Bennett’s Bluff” and was known for its many plantations. Thanks to the many casinos lined up next to each other along the Red River, it is now considered a true gambling mecca. “Harrah’s Louisiana Downs”, a horse racing track that opened its doors in 1974, also promises entertainment. Tobacco lovers are particularly recommended to go to the tobacco outlet “Tabacco Factory & General Store”. The “Ark La Tex Mardi Gras Museum” is also well worth seeing. A detour to the “Louisiana Boardwalk” with its many shopping opportunities,

Monroe

Monroe is a city on the east bank of the Ouachita River, which together with the neighboring city of West Monroe on the west bank form the “Twincities of Northeast Louisiana”. The city in Ouachita Parish was founded around 1800 as “Fort Miro” and was later given its current name in honor of President James Monroe. Monroe is best known for being the “birthplace” of Delta Airlines, which is hardly noticeable today. But there are a number of sights and attractions in Monroe. One of them is the “Biedenharn Museum & Gardens”, which is the home of the man who bottled the first Coca-Cola. A visit to the extremely pretty “Layton Castle”, or the “Masur Museum”.

Ruston

The city of Ruston is located in Lincoln Parish and is its administrative seat. It lies on the eastern border of the “Ark-La-Tex” region and is known as the home of the Louisiana Tech University. Ruston is also famous for its historic city center and the excellent peaches that grow here. Ruston offers a variety of unique shops and delicious restaurants and there are many opportunities to discover the arts and culture, as well as some natural and historical attractions. Recommended museums are the Autrey House Museum, the Lincoln Parish Museum, the Louisiana Military Museum and the Dixie Center for the Arts.
