The south of South Carolina

“Eerily beautiful” is perhaps the best way to describe southern South Carolina. Miles of white sandy beaches washed clean by the tide and swamps with a rich variety of birds and moss-covered trees characterize the landscape. It’s the atmosphere that draws thousands to Hilton Head Island, the region’s most popular resort, every year. Hilton Head scores with an indescribable number of leisure facilities including tennis and golf courses. At night the moon bathes the white sandy beaches in a beautiful light, you can see a ruined church, moss-hung palm trees and ancient oak forests that shine in the silvery light. It is this romantic and haunting atmosphere that attracts visitors again and again to internalize the beauty of the south.

Beaufort

Beaufort is located on Port Royal Island on the Atlantic coast. It is the administrative seat of Beaufort County and the second oldest city in the state of South Carolina after Charleston. Before the city in the heart of the Sea Islands and the Low country was founded by the British in 1711, it was the focus of many European explorers in the past. It finally got its name from Henry Somerset, the second Duke of Beaufort. Today Beaufort is a popular tourist destination and is known for its picturesque location as well as its historical character through the preservation of the antebellum architecture. The annual “Beaufort Shrimp Festival” is very popular. Numerous buildings and places in Beaufort have been added to the National Register of Historic Places, including the “William Barnwell House”, the Beaufort Historic District, the “Beaufort National Cemetery”, the “Seaside Plantation” and the “John A. Cuthbert House”. Beaufort is a popular holiday destination far beyond the country’s borders, which has often been the backdrop for high-profile films and is known for the beautiful harbor on Port Royal Sound. Further sights are the “Beaufort Museum”, the “St. Helena’s Episcopal Church” and the “Verdier House” built in 1805. which has often been the backdrop for high-profile films and is known for the beautiful harbor on Port Royal Sound. Hilton Head Island

The city of Hilton Head Island is located on the island of the same name and is in Beaufort County. Archaeological finds show that the island’s history is more than 10,000 years old, but it wasn’t until 1520 that Europeans explored it. In contrast, the actual city of Hilton Head Island is quite young, as it was officially founded in 1983. The island was named after the captain William Hilton, who discovered a piece of land on Port Royal Sound in 1663 and named it “Hiltons Head”. The city, like the island, are known for the miles of sparkling beaches. But a visit to Hilton Head Island is more than just a day at the beach. Some of the best golf and tennis in the southeastern United States are located here. Fishing, biking, boating, shopping, horseback riding and much more are available in the Hilton Head Island area. Hilton Head Island is simply a perfect vacation destination and has something for everyone. In addition to beautiful beaches and first-class golf courses, there are also cultural institutions in and on Hilton Head Island, the “Coastal Discovery Museum” and the “Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island” as well as the art gallery “Camellia Art” being particularly recommended.
