Albany

Founded in 1624 by the Dutch as Fort Orange, the city with the settlements Reusselaerswyck and Beverwyck became British in 1664 under the name Albany and in 1686 City; capital since 1797.
Hudson River
Hudson River [ h ʌ dsn r ɪ və; according to H. Hudson ] the, river in the state of New York, USA, 493 km long, rises in the Adirondacks from many small lakes, flows into the New York Bay in the urban area of New York between Long Island and Staten Island. The main tributary (from the west) is the Mohawk River. The Hudson River, which is navigable all year round for seagoing vessels as far as Albany, is an important waterway. The New York State Barge Canal connects to the Great Lakes and the Saint Lawrence River.
Mohawk River
Mohawk River [ mə ʊ h ɔ ː k r ɪ və], right tributary of the Hudson River in upstate New York, USA, 238 km long, rises in the Adirondacks, flows north of Albany. The New York State Barge Canal (to Lake Erie) runs through the valley of the Mohawk River, an important traffic route inland since the beginning of colonization.
