It is home to more than 150 different species with more than 500 animals. You can see bison, lion tamarins, tigers, gazelles, red giant kangaroos and much more. The zoo is divided into different themed areas, which were named after the major continents and show the typical animal species.

Oak Mountain State Park

The “Oak Mountain State Park” is the largest nature reserve in the state of Alabama. The state park extends over 4020 hectares between the Double Oak Mountains and Little Oak Ridge. The creation of the park can be traced back to 1927. The beautiful area offers a variety of leisure activities. It is particularly popular because of its hiking opportunities, the well-developed mountain bike trails and excellent golf courses, but also because of the great swimming opportunities. You can also fish, go boating and, above all, experience and explore the wilderness of Alabama. Events that take place annually provide additional variety.
