Vicksburg
The city of Vicksburg is located in Mississippi’s Warren County and is right at the confluence of the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers. The city named after Newitt Vick was officially founded in 1825 and is nicknamed the “Gibraltar of Confederacy”. It gained fame primarily through its importance in the American Civil War and the Battle of Vicksburg in 1863. Due to its special history, Vicksburg is a popular destination and has everything that is typical of the delta region to offer: good music, a rich history, great food, great entertainment and lifestyle. Great restaurants, specialty shops as well as boutiques and art galleries await the visitor here. A visit to the Vicksburg National Military Park is highly recommended. Also worth seeing are the Balfour House.
Tupelo
The city of Tupelo is located in Lee County and is its administrative seat. It is also known as “All America City” and “T-Town”. Tupelo was founded in 1870, when it was still known under the name “Gum Pond”. It was not until a few years later that the city received its current name, based on the tupelo trees growing here. Tupelo is world-famous as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, who also spent the first 13 years of his life here. The main attraction is therefore the “Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum”, where everything revolves around the “King of Rock’n’Roll”. But Tupelo has a few more attractions and sights to offer, including the “Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo”, the “Tupelo Automobile Museum”
Corinth
Corinth is a city in Alcorn County and its administrative seat. It was founded in 1853 under the name “Cross City” because the railway lines Mobile & Ohio and Memphis & Charleston crossed here. As an important railway junction, it was a frequent battleground, especially during the American Civil War. Even today you can still walk in the historical footsteps of the city as a tourist, for example when visiting the “Borrum’s Drug Store”, the “National Cemetery” or the “Train Depot”. The nostalgic city center, which is lined with eclectic shops and galleries, museums and restaurants, is also particularly worth seeing. A visit to the “Coca-Cola Museum”, the “Corinth Coliseum Theater”, as well as the “Crossroads Museum”, and “Black History Museum”.
