Chesapeake
With around 240,000 residents and an area of 909 km², Chesapeake is the third largest city in Virginia. It is located in the South Hampton Roads region and was founded relatively late in 1963 when the city of South Norfolk merged with the former Norfolk County.
Chesapeake is a diverse city and has miles of industrial, commercial and residential areas along the water. However, there are also large areas of protected farmland, forests and marshland, such as the Great Swamps.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Visitors to the city can enjoy the following interesting sights and activities:

Newport News
The city of Newport News is also located in the southeast of the state in the Hampton Roads region, directly between Williamsburg and Norfolk on the James River. It has around 190,000 residents on an area of 310 km² and was officially founded in 1896. However, the first settlers already settled there in 1619.
Newport News has economic importance primarily through its shipbuilding, aviation and military. The location on the harbor and along the James River allows for an extensive boat industry. With the Newport News Marine Terminals at the east end of town, it also serves as a junction between rail and sea.
