Biedenharn Coca Cola Museum
The “Biedenharn Coca Cola Museum” is located in Vicksburg and shows the history of the world-famous drink. What is now a museum was once the building in which Joseph Biedenharn first bottled Coca Cola in 1894. The museum shows historical filling equipment as well as a large number of Coca Cola memorabilia. The “Biedenharn Coca Cola Museum” has existed since 1979 and has been attracting many tourists every year since then.
Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site
The Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site is located near Tupelo in the north of Lee County. It is a memorial located on the battlefield of the “Battle of Brice’s Crossroads”, where a Confederate army fought against a superior Union in 1864. The memorial was established in 1929 and also includes the “Bethany Presbyterian Church” and the “Bethany Cemetery”. A visitor center located in nearby Baldwyn also gives visitors extensive information about the battle and the memorial.
Civil War Park
The “Civil War Park” in Vicksburg is located on the site where the Battle of Vicksburg once took place during the American Civil War. The park offers more than 1,325 monuments and memorial pillars, various hiking and walking trails and the restored gunboat “USS Cairo”.
Clark Creek Natural Area
Clark Creek Natural Area is a state park located west of Woodville. The park covers an area of approximately 2.8 km² and has more than 50 waterfalls, some of which fall 9 m deep. It is open to the public all year round. Clark Creek Natural Area is ideal for a wide variety of recreational activities, with hiking and bird watching being the most popular. Foxes, black bears and squirrels can be spotted with a little patience, but extreme caution is also advised because of the poisonous snakes that are found here.
Crosby Arboretum
The “Crosby Arboretum” is located in Picayune and is part of Mississippi State University. The tree garden extends over a size of around 3 km² and shows more than 300 different tree and shrub species. You will find mainly plants that grow in the Mississippi region. The arboretum is also home to the “Pinecote Pavilion”, which is considered an “architectural gem” in Mississippi.
