Biloxi
The city of Biloxi is located on a peninsula on the Gulf Coast and is in Harrison County. Due to its proximity to the sea, fishing is very important here and the city is therefore also known as the “Seafood Capital of the World”. Other nicknames for Biloxi are “Buck City” and “The Promiseland”. Biloxi is a city that is overcrowded with casinos and because of this it is often referred to as the “Playground of the South”. Hattiesburg is a city that is partially located in the two counties of Forrest and Lamar. It was founded in 1882 by lumberman William H. Hardy and named after his wife Hattie. The city of Gulfport is located in Harrison County and is the second largest city in Mississippi after Jackson. It was founded in 1898 by William H. Hardy and Joseph T. Jones.
