Southwest Kentucky
Whether a family vacation or a weekend getaway, the southwest is a perfect destination. Well known in this region is the NationalCorvetteMuseum, which is located in Bowling Green and exhibits more than 70 models of American sports cars. A visit to the LostRiverCave should not be missed for an underground boat tour. The region is home to the world’s longest cave system, the MammothCaveNational Park. Six beautiful lakes, including the BarrenRiverState ResortPark, guarantee relaxation and offer a variety of opportunities for water sports enthusiasts.
Cave City
The small town in Barren County was founded in 1834 and has a long history. Since it is in close proximity to the “Mammoth Cave”, it is known as the “Gateway to Mammoth Cave”. With Mammoth Cave and the attached park, Cave City not only has the longest underground cave system in the world and Kentucky’s most popular tourist attraction, but also one of the seven wonders of the world right on its doorstep. In addition, Cave City has even more caves such as the “Diamond Caverns” to offer. Also worth seeing are the “Wigwam Village Motel”, “Hidden River Cave & American Cave Museum” and the Wild West Town “Guntown Mountain”.
Glasgow
Glasgow is a city in Barren County and also its county seat. It was founded in 1799 and is now world famous for the annual “Scottish Highland Games”. Here, too, there are some sights that make a visit worthwhile. These include the “Veterans Wall of Honor” and “Water Street Tunnels”. You should also visit sights such as the historic “Fort Williams”, “Native Plant Habitat” and the “South Central Kentucky Cultural Center”. The large number of unusual and old trees that can be found in the entire village and in the surrounding area is also impressive.
Bowling green
Bowling Green is located in Warren County and is Kentucky’s third largest city. It was founded in 1798 by George and Robert Moore and is now an important industrial location. It is best known as a production facility for General Motors sports cars such as Chevrolet Corvettes and the legendary Cadillac XLR. That the city is proud of its automotive industry is particularly evident in the “National Corvette Museum”. Numerous parks line the bowling green and in no way convey the appearance of a typical industrial city. Particularly noteworthy is the “Fountain Square Park” in the heart of the city center. There are also many museums that are also worth a visit, such as the Kentucky Museum or Historic Railpark and Train Museum.
