Sun Belt [ s ĘŚ n belt], name given to the south of the 37th degree of latitude located, climatically favored strip of territory (“Sun Belt”) of the United States, between Atlantic and Pacific coast;in the Sun Belt are the states of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, California (only Southern California belongs to the Sun Belt), Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
