Jackson
The capital Jackson is the cultural and economic center of Mississippi. They are often called “Crossroads of the South” or “Jack-town”. Jackson’s founding dates back to 1822 when the state desperately needed a central capital. It was named after the general and later US President Andrew Jackson.
