Day 1: Departure from ScandinaviaDay 2: Arrival at Colombo Airport
The first day you can spend getting used to the time difference, check in and gradually start exploring the lively city.
Day 3: Train journey to Kandy through small towns
After checking out, drive to the station and hop on the train to Kandy. The train drives past sleepy little stations, through the mountains, next to waterfalls and tea plantations. Upon arrival in Sri Lanka’s cultural capital Kandy, you will be picked up by a driver who will make sure you arrive at your hotel. Here you have some time to relax. At the end of the day, it’s time to experience Kandy and the city’s famous dancers, as well as the “Tooth Temple”, which is said to house one of the Buddha’s teeth ( F ).
Day 4: Past lush mountains from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, it carries off along the mountain roads, over the beautiful mountains, along the tea plantations, to the Ramboda waterfall. You visit a tea factory that is known for its quality and hear the whole story of how to make the perfect teacup. In the late afternoon, check in at your hotel in Nuwara Eliya and can relax or enjoy one of the shorter walks in the area. ( F )
Day 5: Nuwara Eliya to Ella – a wonderful hike in pleasant temperature
You get up early, before sunrise, and bring a warm sweater and a breakfast package on the trip. The first stop is Horton Plains where you can stroll around the beautiful national park among fantastic viewpoints. The excursion continues via the hotel on to Ella, one of Sri Lanka’s most charming mountain towns. You will stay in a hotel with breathtaking mountain views. ( F )
Day 6: Cooking class in Ella
The day begins calmly with a nice breakfast before setting off to explore the local cuisine and prepare your own lunch. The afternoon is completely free to spend time relaxing. You can visit the beautiful waterfall Ravana or just walk in the city. ( F )
Day 7: From Ella to the surf town of Arugam Bay, on the southeast coast.
Today the trip goes to Arugam Bay, a sleepy little town where swimming and surfing are in focus. After check-in and a delicious lunch, you can explore the city or book an hour of surfing. ( F )
Day 8: Arugam Bay
Relax in the hammock or book a surfing hour and enjoy the crowded beaches. ( F )
Day 9: Arugam Bay – Yala National Park
You arrive in Yala in the afternoon and can relax for the rest of the day, or take a walk to one of the small markets nearby. You can also ask your driver to drive you to a nearby temple if you want to experience the evening prayer. ( F )
Day 10: Safari and beach
Before sunset, drive into Yala National Park, which houses the largest variety of wildlife throughout Sri Lanka. You can see elephants, monkeys, crocodiles, peacocks and – with a little luck – leopards. After a lovely drive, you will reach your hotel in Tangalla, just outside the city on a long, unspoilt sandy beach. Once you have eaten, it is nice to walk along the beach and if it is a full moon you may see a turtle on its way up on land to lay eggs. ( F )

Take a dip or enjoy the view of the beach and the sparkling sea. ( F )
Day 12: Visit the charming town of Galle
After breakfast, the journey continues towards Colombo. On the way you stop in Galle, which is a former Dutch colony. Here is a fortress that has been converted into a nice neighborhood with small cafes, beautifully restored hotels and cozy shops. ( F )
Day 13: Colombo – Treat yourself to a wonderful massage before returning home
Start your last day of vacation with a relaxing massage. The massage is performed by skilled blind masseurs who soften all your tensions before the trip home.
