DALI Via Radio Control-Very Simple!

Enocean DALI Controller Commissioning-So Simple

The manufacturer Deuta Controls promises a quick introduction into the practical work with the configurable FLEX options of the proven BL-201 EnOcean DALI controllers. With these gateways the DALI lighting can be controlled via EnOcean radio switches.

How Complicated Is The Commissioning Of The Enocean DALI Controller Really?

We Tested This For You And Were Positively Surprised.

Deuta Controls has created an inexpensive starter kit for the beginner, which includes all necessary component

The BL-201-FLEX starter kit consists of:

BL-201-10-868 UPFLEX EnOcean DALI Controller as described in microedu

BL-PC-FLEX PC software, Windows, CD

Wireless proximity switch white EnOcean

USB 300 EnOcean Stick

Slotted screwdriver 0.4 x 2.0

Power supply cable with Euro plug, 2m

Hardware Installation:

A LED light with DALI LED driver was used as load . The DALI driver was connected to 230V AC input voltage and connected to the BL-201 gateway via 2 DALI lines, which is also supplied with mains voltage. The LED is wired to the output of the driver. In addition, the EnOcean radio surface switch with double rocker was used to switch the lighting via EnOcean radio.

Software Installation:

First, the CD is inserted into the PC and started. Then open the disk and run the “setup” application from the “BL-PC-FLEX” folder. After successful installation, the PC software “BL-PC-FLEX” is started.

Note: After opening the software, the user manual can be accessed via the “Help” ->”Show Help” button.

Then insert the USB stick and run “CDM v2.12.00 WHQL Certified” from the folder “USB 300 Driver” if the software was not installed automatically.

Commissioning:

As soon as the hardware is supplied with power, the USB 300 stick is connected and the software has been successfully installed and opened, commissioning can begin. By pressing the “Auto” button (or depending on the version “Auto”) in the toolbar the PC software tries to find the radio via the EnOcean USB stick controls. The found controls are displayed in the tree view in the Project Explorer.

Already, all controls can be switched on and off using the buttons “All On” and “All Off”. When the buttons are pressed, a broadcast (= “broadcast”) command is transmitted and all lights connected to the DALI control should be switched on or off.

Switching single lights or activating scenes is not yet possible at this time. The message “No ballasts present” appears. The functions ballasts, groups and scenes require addressing. To do this, select the control you want to address (here BL_201_v10_018BD562) and click the “Address” button.

Then select the command “All” from the drop-down list and press the “Address” button.

Now under “Ballasts” all connected DALI devices are displayed and groups can be formed and scenes can be created.

Enocean Button

In order to be able to control the lighting via an EnOcean light switch, this must be activated once (any key). In the EnOcean Explorer (right), a switch icon will appear, with “Name” and the associated unique ID. The light switch is “projected” by a double-click and thus belongs to the project.

Now, switching functions such as “on-off” or “dim” can be assigned. To do this, select the configured switch in the EnOcean Explorer by a simple left mouse click and a new tab with the name of the switch and an assignment list appears. With the line under the assignment list, functions can be assigned to the EnOcean switch using the “Event”, “Control”, “Action” and “Target/Ballast” drop-down lists.

Download To The Control

To be able to use the functions from the assignment list also in the control, a download to the control is necessary. As a result, the configurations are transmitted wirelessly via the EnOcean USB stick to the controller. This is done in three steps:

First, select the controller to be updated in the Project Explorer.

Then press the “Refresh” button (at the bottom of the configuration area). This adds the assignment for the switch to the configuration list.

Finally, press the “Download” button and the configuration is transferred to the controller. After a few seconds, the learned functions of the EnOcean switch can be used.

Finished! Now The Connected DALI Lighting Can Be Controlled By Radio.

Conclusion:

Respect Deuta Controls. With the EnOcean DALI gateways, “non-electricians” can also create light scenes and dimming and lighting the lighting via radio. The EnOcean DALI Controller is connected in a few simple steps and ready for use. Also, the software provided is clear and easy to use. In case of problems the manual will help with numerous explanations and pictures.
