Even aware of Sun protection, most people forget to take care of the eyes. The Sun’s rays are responsible for triggering or even aggravate eye problems
It is common to see the scene at the beach: shield in one hand and the other passing the body cream. These same people forget that your eyes need the same care. But to do this, simply use a pair of glasses. “The unprotected eye contact with the Sun’s rays can trigger or worsen several eye problems,” the ophthalmologist Renato Braz.
The expert still warns that the most common are the certites (inflammation of the cornea), fibro vascular membrane (which grows on the cornea and may distort it and even cover the central vision), cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (retinal problem serious and without cure that happens after the 50 years).
“Those illnesses, depending on each case, arise because the UVB rays are filtered by the natural crystalline lens of the eye, and the GRAPE by the retina, causing chemical changes in these structures, which in the long run can lead to the disease,” he says.
The use of sunglasses suitable is the main measure to be adopted by those who want to safeguard the health of the eyes. It is essential that the glasses have efficient protection, filtering the Sun’s rays.
Just beware of poor quality, which can be more damaging than the non-use. What happens is that they have dark lenses, but without protection, which tricks the eye and they just dilating the pupils, allowing greater input of ultraviolet radiation.
For certification of the efficiency of the lenses, the seals that attest to the UV filter is not enough. You should use a device especially designed for this purpose called espectofotômetro, present in some optical and ophthalmological clinics. To complement, hats and caps are also recommended to contain direct exposure of the eyes to sunlight.
In tropical countries such as Brazil, the eye protection should be extended to all stations. “Individuals more likely to develop problems resulting from solar radiation live in hot climate countries.
Are mainly people who work exposed to climatic conditions, as rural workers, athletes, teachers, among others. It is worth noting that the children are a bit more sensitive because they have more dilated pupil that the elderly, enabling greater input from hell in the eyes, “says the expert.
